Thistle Humanists
As Humanist celebrants we are non religious. We respect the dignity and the potential of all human beings, regardless of their background or circumstances. Central to humanist thought is the principle of treating each other with compassion, respect, and understanding, recognising our shared humanity. We look to reach across cultural, religious, and ideological divides, fostering mutual respect and cooperation. By valuing diversity, humanism celebrates the rich and diverse tapestry of beliefs and traditions that define human experience while promoting dialogue and empathy to bridge differences.
We believe too, that we all share a sense of responsibility for the environment and the natural world. As human beings we are all part of nature, interconnected with all living things and the ecosystems that sustain life. We therefore advocate sustainable practices to protect the planet for future generations. We take a valued interest in pressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, working collectively to preserve the beauty and vitality of the Earth.
By respecting human dignity and promoting the common good, we hope to offer a way to live peacefully and cooperatively in a diverse and connected world.
The ceremonies we craft are designed to reflect you as a couple, creating a truly personal and meaningful celebration. From the stories you share about your journey together to this special moment on your wedding day, we aim to capture the essence of your commitment to spending your lives together.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we are proud to donate a portion of our fees to support a range of important causes and charities, both local and national. These have included initiatives like the assisted dying bill, Edinburgh Women’s Aid, and Calum’s Cabin, among others, helping to make a positive impact in our communities.
